   (b) Video delivery (throughput) rate - This is the actual flow of data from the video servers to your PC. Think of the video throughput as water flowing to the top of a skyscraper. Having the largest pipes possible at the base of the building does not guarantee a strong flow of water at the top. The flow at the top is limited by the pipes located there and by the tap itself.

Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin Alpha 2

Unity 5.0 ialah versi baru Unity yang akan melengkapkan Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin. Ia membawakan kepada kita cara baru berkomunikasi dengan komputer, daripada menyemak atau meneliti 'hutan menu', sebaliknya hanya menggunakan 'bar carian' sahaja. Lebih pantas dan produktif. Kepada mereka yang membenci Ubuntu disebabkan Unity, anda perlu fikirkan semula.

Cara Mengecilkan Bar/Dock Unity Dalam Ubuntu 11.10

Saya tidak teragak-agak untuk format semula komputer dan memasangnya, kerana ia masih menawarkan 'Classic Desktop' iaitu Gnome 2.32. Tetapi apabila keluar sahaja versi 11.10, tiada lagi pilihan tersebut, kerana Gnome 3 sudah mengambil alih secara penuh terhadapnya.

Dengan masuknya Gnome 3, ini bermaksud bermulanya fasa baru dalam keserasian antara perkakasan dan juga perisian. Unity telah menjadi persekitaran desktop lalai pada Ubuntu 11.10.

Rata-rata ramai yang mahu bar Unity dikecilkan secara lalai. Mungkin ia akan dijadikan seperti itu pada versi akan datang, mungkin juga tidak. Untuk mengecilkannya dalam Ubuntu 11.10, apa yang anda perlu lakukan ialah:

1. Pasang CompizConfig Settings Manager (CCSM):

sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager

Atau pasangkannya melalui Ubuntu Software Center (USC).

2. Dalam CCSM, pergi kepada Ubuntu Unity Plugin > Experimental > Launcher icon size > Tukarkan mengikut saiz yang anda mahu

Pasangkan tool yang dipanggil sebagai MyUnity:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:myunity/ppa

Buka Ubuntu Tweak > Tweaks > Unity Settings > Launcher > Icon Size > Ubah ikut saiz yang anda suka

Amacam? Cukup sudah dengan panduan ini. Harap anda akan mula menggunakan Unity dan melekat terus kepadanya kerana ia cukup mudah dan seronok untuk digunakan!

Perkara Perlu Dilakukan Selepas Memasang Ubuntu 11.10

1. Pasangkan Codecs:

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras

Apabila keluar tetingkap seperti di bawah, anda hanya perlu klik 'Ok' dan 'Yes':

Setelah selesai dua perkara penting itu, tiba masa untuk kita 'tweak' Ubuntu.

3. Pasangkan Unity 5.0

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:unity-team/staging

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Bagaimana jika terdapat masalah dengan Unity 5.0? Jika ada masalah, sila buangkan PPA sebentar tadi:

sudo apt-get install ppa-purge

4. Disebabkan Mr.Hac terbiasa dengan ciri Arch Linux yang sentiasa berada dalam 'Bleeding Edge Moment', maka tidak teragak-agak untuk Mr.Hac memasang Firefox Aurora pada Ubuntu 11.10:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-daily/firefox-aurora

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

5. Pasangkan versi terbaru Transmission

To all SOPAK lovers out there, you should love this software too!

6. Memasang plugin ekstra untuk Compiz (Ini akan dibincangkan dalam entri seterusnya!)

7. Mengaktifkan Multiverse Repository:

Buka Software Sources, tandakan (centang) 'Software restricted by copyright or legal issues (multiverse)'.

Buka tab 'Other Software', sila tandakan pada kotak yang tidak ditandakan:

Cara Mengubah Kedudukan Bar/Dock Unity Ke Bawah Pada Ubuntu 11.10

Adakah anda pengguna Ubuntu 11.10 yang ingin mengubah kedudukan bar/dock Unity daripada biasa:

Kepada kedudukan seperti berikut:

Anda mahu? Teruskan membaca.

1. Sila buka Terminal, dan masukkan perintah di bawah untuk memasang Ubuntu Unity Plugin Rotated, Libnux terbaru dan CCSM. Jika sebelum ini anda sudah pernah memasang CCSM, maka baris perintah itu bolehlah di diabaikan.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:paullo612/unityshell-rotated
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install unityshell-rotated libnux-1.0-0 compizconfig-settings-manager

2. Buka CCSM, sila buangkan tanda pada kotak 'Ubuntu Unity Plugin' dan tandakan pada kotak 'Ubuntu Unity Plugin Rotated'. Akan keluar tetingkap yang memberitahu terdapat 'konflik', di sini sila pilih 'Resolve conflicts'. Jika ada lagi dua tetingkap yang keluar (dalam kes Mr.Hac tiada), sila pilih 'Disable Run Dialog' dan 'Disable Flip Down'.

3. Jika CCSM 'hang', tetapi anda telah berhasil menandakan kotak 'Ubuntu Unity Plugin Rotated', untuk mengatasi masalah ini, sila tekan kekunci Ctrl + Alt + F1, masukkan nama pengguna dan kata laluan dan taipkan:

sudo service lightdm restart

Kemudian log masuk seperti biasa.

4. Jika CCSM 'hang' selepas anda membuangkan tanda pada 'Ubuntu Unity Plugin', tetapi anda tidak sempat menandakan pada kotak 'Ubuntu Unity Plugin Rotated', sila lakukan langkah nombor 3, kemudian setelah log masuk tekan kekunci Ctrl + Alt + T untuk membuka Terminal dan taipkan:

Sepertimana yang umum ketahui, Firefox 10 telah pun dilepaskan kepada umum untuk dimuat turun dan dipasangkan pada komputer masing-masing.
